Nate Oviatt joined Goodsell Quinn, LLP in August, 2012. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota and graduated with High Honors. He holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from The University of Nebraska at Omaha and graduated with Distinction. Originally from Whitewood and a graduate of Sturgis Brown High School, SD, Nate now resides in Rapid City.
During undergraduate work at University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nate excelled in the sport of wrestling and was named NCAA Academic All-American (4x) 2004-2007. The determination, tenacity, and discipline which made him successful in wrestling have contributed to his success and skill in the practice of law.
Prior to joining Goodsell Quinn, Nate worked as an Attorney Law Clerk for the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court in Rapid City, South Dakota where he performed extensive legal research and assisted in drafting opinions used in various civil, criminal, and appellate decisions.
His professional career includes client representation in the areas of personal injury, tribal law, business and commercial litigation, eminent domain and municipal law. Nate has litigated constitutional issues related to the Indian Child Welfare Act. He has also represented clients suffering from traumatic brain injuries, and achieved successful results on their behalf. Nate has the following published opinions:
Nate is a member in good standing with the South Dakota State Bar, the State Bar of North Dakota, and the Pennington County Bar Association. He is also admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota.
As a member of the Goodsell Quinn litigation team, Nate focusses on personal injury, business and commercial litigation, eminent domain, and oil and gas cases.
